Arsenal’s indecision regarding a return to the Emirates Stadium for Cesc Fabregas is holding up his move to Chelsea, it has been revealed.

The former Arsenal man is expected to leave the Catalan giants after new manager Luis Enrique told the player he did not figure in his vision for the club and is expected to return to the Premier League for a fee of £ 27 million.

The deal was expected to be announced before the beginning of the World Cup after Barcelona signed Ivan Rakitic as a replacement for the outgoing Spanish international.

According to the media in Spain, Barcelona had already agreed a £ 17 million move for the Croatian international playmaker before deciding to sell the former Arsenal man to Chelsea.

And it has now emerged that Arsenal is holding up a move for the Spaniard as they haggle over a price for their former prodigy. Arsenal had a first refusal option on Cesc Fabregas allowing them to match any bid for the player before Barcelona could sell him.

But with Wenger not keen to bring him back to the club, speculation is rife that there is another clause in the deal that saw Fabregas move to Barcelona which allows Arsenal to claim 50% of the profit on any transfer that takes place for a fee over £ 26 million.

And it is that clause that has Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic apprehensive about signing the Spaniard. It has been revealed that he doesn’t want to play Arsenal any fee for the player and Chelsea is keen to renegotiate a fee for Cesc Fabregas.

And all this has made for a transfer that could carry on till the end of the transfer window if neither London club decide to back down on their demands and come to terms.
