Cesc Fabregas outlines his future plans amid contract talk

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has suggested that he could try a stint in football management once he calls time on his professional career. The Spain international has been an influential figure in the Blues ranks since his move from Barcelona in 2014, and he is aiming to continue on the field for many more years before weighing up his plans off it.

Speaking to Soccer AM, Fabregas said: "At this stage I would say that I want to get into management. In life anything can happen though, everything can change in your mind. I am still feeling very good, very young. I think I can play for many more years, so it's not something I feel I want to do straight away. But in the future I would like to try."

Fabregas found himself as an outsider during the initial stages of Antonio Conte's management at the Bridge. However, as the 2016/17 went on, he became a more a familiar figure ahead of Nemanja Matic on occasions, and the Serb was eventually allowed to pursue a summer move to Old Trafford.
Since then, Conte has tried out plenty of midfield combinations alongside N'Golo Kante, but the Blues have looked more assured on the playing field when Fabregas has been part of it, given his long-range passing, which remains an asset for any quality outfit.
Fabregas presently has a contract with Chelsea until the summer of 2019, and he has previously expressed his interest in remain in the English capital, though he may not get more than a year's extension, owing to the Blues strict policy associated with players on the wrong side of 30.
Chelsea returned to winning ways on Monday night with a 3-0 triumph over West Bromwich Albion, and this cements the fourth spot temporarily with tricky games versus Manchester United and Manchester City on the loose in the next 21 days.
