Fabregas comments on the craziest teammate he has encountered
Cesc Fabregas says that it is a tough fight between Gerard Pique and Diego Costa for the title of the craziest teammate he has played with. Fabregas and Costa played with each other for a few years at Chelsea, but this turned out to be one of the best partnerships seen in the Premier League. The duo contributed a majority of the Chelsea goals for a period of three years. However, Fabregas has a long-standing relationship with Gerard Pique after coming through the Barcelona youth ranks at the same time.
Fabregas has recalled how the incredible partnership with Costa helped persuade former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte to bring him back to the starting lineup despite having a preference for physical midfielders. Fabregas was signed by Jose Mourinho in his second spell as a Chelsea manager. However, the arrival of Antonio Conte brought about a shift in philosophy and Fabregas found himself as a substitute more often than not. Yet, he has revealed how Diego Costa famously screamed at Conte for bringing on Fabregas when Chelsea were struggling to get results against Manchester City and West Brom. The Spaniard came onto the pitch and made an instant impact by providing assists for Costa to score.
"It is between Costa and Gerard Pique. Gerard I have played with since I was 10 years old. He hasn't changed much but now he is a business man and the image he has is completely different. He used to do crazy things all the time. One day he burst the tyres on the car of our goalkeeper. The guy went home and halfway back he was stuck on the motorway. He has to be in my top two," said Fabregas about the craziest teammates. The former Barcelona and Arsenal midfielder is now with French outfit Monaco.
