NO PANIC
Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, who managed to score two goals in the match against Osasuna during the weekend, has said that there was never a moment when Barcelona panicked in the 2-1 win over Osasuna. Osasuna managed to open the scoring with a great header in the first half, which was followed by many opportunities for the home team.
This was first away match of the season for Barcelona and they never really seemed to have rediscovered their touch away from home. As a result, they struggled for the majority of the match. However, strikes from Lionel Messi helped them to earn a hard-fought victory that put them five points clear of Real Madrid at the top of the table.
Barcelona failed to lift the league title last season and the new manager has made it a priority for them to reclaim the title from Real Madrid more than anything else. The five-point advantage even at this early stage in the season seems extremely crucial after Real Madrid lost to Getafe during the weekend. Despite the struggles in the Osasuna match, Lionel Messi has said that there was not a moment in the match when he could see Barcelona panicking in possession.
"We did not panic and always remained calm. We found a way to respond to their goal. We were able to build play from the back and we did not lose our heads. Luckily, the goals came in the end. It’s always hard for us to win here at Osasuna. Tito Vilanova had already warned us of that before the match. What’s truly important is that we stay on this course - we have to keep on winning. We knew that it would be difficult to play here and, luckily, I scored again," said Barcelona's Lionel Messi.
