CESC BACKS PEPE
Cesc Fabregas has said that it would be great if Barcelona signs the Liverpool goalie Pepe Reina next summer.
Victor Valdes who has been the first choice keeper of Barcelona since quite a while is believed to make a move abroad at the end of this season. That would force Blaugrana to look for a quality goal keeper and Fabregas thinks that Reina will be a good choice.
Reina is currently playing for Napoli on loan, but, he is not expected to sign a permanent deal with the Italian club next summer.
Talking to the reporters yesterday about Valdes’ possible exit next summer, Fabregas said, “Victor has served Barcelona fantastically well in the last 10 years or so and we can’t even imagine any other player in front of our goal post, but, he wants to have a different kind of experience now and that’s why he wants to leave.”
“Pepe knows most of the Barcelona players pretty well. So, he will not have too many problems gelling in. Also, he is that sort of character who brings positivity in the changing room. So, it would be nice having him here.”
Fabregas has also made it clear that he doesn’t want to join any other club in near future.
During the pre-season transfer window, Manchester United was interested in Fabregas and the Red Devils are expected to bid for the Spanish midfielder again in January, but, Fabregas’ statements suggest that United will struggle to land him at Old Trafford.
When asked about any chances of him making a move in near future, Fabregas said, “I don’t think that I will be going anywhere else. I want to be here at Barcelona for a long time and win a lot of titles here.”
