Antonio Conte Reserves Special Praise for Cesc Fabregas
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has praised midfielder Cesc Fabregas’ form over the last few games.
The impressive performances put in by the Spaniard resulted in Antonio Conte retaining him in the starting line-up for the game against Swansea during the weekend. It was seen as one of the key encounters for Chelsea in their efforts to win the league title this season.
Swansea were coming into the match on the back of wins against Liverpool and a draw with Manchester City. The arrival of manager Paul Clement has rejuvenated the team unlike never before. Hence, the team were clearly a major threat to Chelsea’s extensive lead at the top of the table.
The blues managed a 3-1 win over Swansea courtesy of goals from Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa, and Pedro. Fabregas was a crucial player in the game. Apart from opening the scoring in the 19th minute, he also provided an assist. Only a few weeks ago, he scored in the 3-1 win over Arsenal. It has been a series of good performances from the Spaniard, who has largely been relegated to the bench since the arrival of Conte.
Yet, the 29-year-old has not complained about his lack of first-team opportunities and has just been extremely professional. Conte reserved special praise for his midfielder, who has been preferred in games where the opposition are expected to defend deep.
"Cesc is in good form. I think every game I have to make the best decision for the team. And I try to to do the best for the team. You don't need to remind me that the league is not finished. It's normal. This league it will be very tough until the end. But to stay now in this position for us will be tough," said Conte after the game against Swansea.
