Antonio Conte Praises Chelsea Midfielder Cesc Fabregas as Decisive

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has heaped praise on midfielder Cesc Fabregas by saying that the Spaniard has been decisive when it comes to contributing towards Chelsea’s title challenge.

The Spaniard has largely been used as an impact substitute by the manager. Fabregas has largely come on as a substitute late in the matches in order to make an impact. Nemanja Matic has been preferred as the first choice alongside N’Golo Kante. However, the attitude towards Fabregas has certainly changed in the second half of the season with Conte witnessing first-hand the ability of the former Barcelona star to make a decisive impact on matches.

Fabregas may have begun only 10 league matches this season, but he has managed four goals and nine assists. His latest assist came in the 3-0 win over Everton. After having managed to take a decisive lead through Pedro in the second half, Chelsea were looking to consolidate the victory.

Gary Cahill’s effort from a free kick provided another major goal, but the defining goal came through Willian with only a few minutes remaining. Fabregas was the architect of this goal after having been on the pitch only for a few minutes. The victory was extremely important for Chelsea, as it kept them four points clear of Tottenham in the race for the Premier league title.

“I think Cesc is a player in this part of the season is showing to be decisive in every moment. If he starts the game [or if] he came on during the game. Also Willy [Willian], I know very well that it's not easy for a player who is used to playing every game and to come on during the game.I must be pleased with them because they are showing me to be great men and fantastic players,” said Conte.
